Why and How to Improve Search Engine Rankings with Offsite Optimization

So, you call yourself an SEO expert, thinking you know everything it takes to improve your website’s ranking? What about what’s not on your website? While onsite optimization is a valuable tool to have at your disposal, even more important is what’s not on your website. Offsite optimization plays just as important technique for your website’s strength, page rank and online reputation. Here’s how to know what exactly the difference is between onsite and offsite optimization and how to leverage your company’s website to its full capacity and potential.

What’s the Difference, Anyways?

Onsite SEO is for most people, the primary focus of their online visibility strategy. Concentrate on onsite SEO and allow it to be 80% of the optimization work you do, with the remaining 20% for offline optimization. Online optimization takes the form of headings (subtitles, titles, etc.), internal links, title of the page, and content of the page. While onsite optimization is everything within your actual website, offsite optimization is everything outside of your website. Offsite optimization includes the various advertising and marketing techniques for your website such as posting a blog article as a guest blogger (including links back to your website), social bookmarking, article submissions and press releases.

Four Things You Can Do Offline to Improve Your Online Business

Contrary to popular belief, online empires aren’t built on the internet alone. There are real world steps that need taken to ensure success. This brief guide will share four steps that any web entrepreneur can take to step their game up to the next level.

Naturally, most of the tips you read about improving your web ventures cover stuff that you do online. There are tips on web design, creating good content, engaging users, targeting your niche, and everything in between. And all of this stuff important.

Equally important, however, are the steps you take offline to bolster your reputation and improve the legitimacy of your operation. Despite often being associated with traditional brick and mortar operations, these offline actions are actually basic steps that every serious business should take. Without them, it’s difficult to differentiate serious, established organizations from those that merely exist on the internet.

Why does this matter, you ask? Well, for a variety of reasons, but mostly because anyone can get set up online and claim to run a business but not everyone takes what they do seriously enough to go the extra mile and establish themselves. And as consumers deciding who we’re going to do business with, wouldn’t we rather work with organizations that are established and care about their reputations? Of course we would. When it comes to buying goods, making investments, developing partnerships, etc. legitimacy matters.

The Compounding Effect of Content and Inbound Links

Legendary physicist Albert Einstein is attributed to saying that compounding interest is both “the greatest invention in human history” and “the most powerful force in the universe.” While Einstein’s sentiments may have been intended as financial advice, I believe these famous remarks can provide important insights for today’s internet marketers, bloggers, and competitive webmasters as well.

What is compound interest?

In a traditional sense, compound interest occurs when the interest earned from an initial investment is automatically reinvested back into your investment. As a result, the interest you’ve earned begins to collect interest  on itself. In other words, the interest on your investment begins to compound.

Compounding interest is one of the most frequently articulated benefits of starting a traditional savings account. As an example, let’s say you deposit an initial investment of $100 into a savings account at 3% interest rate. After one year, your initial investment will have accrued interest and grown to a whopping $103. If you continue to keep money in your savings account over the course of the following year, you’re $3 in of earned interest will actually start building interest upon itself as well. That’s the power of compounding interest! (Wikipedia has a good primer to understanding this concept if you’re interested in learning more.)

Different Ways to Get Backlinks for Your Site

As you already know that the higher the backlinks your site generates from quality & relevant sites, the higher your position will increase in the SERPs. But getting backlinks is not an easy task wherein after the incorporation of “no follow” attributes, people are fuming over to get backlinks from those sites which have “follow” attributes to get the link juice from that site.

I’ll explain you in my next post about “nofollow” attributes but first here I’ll explain you the method of generating backlinks for your site which are easiest & simplest by all means.

Let’s take a look on how to generate links from reputed sites.

1. Link Exchange

It is one of the best but toughest way to generate backlinks as it depends more on the second person you are exchanging links with. There are many ways of exchanging links like reciprocal linking, one way linking, three way linking, link baiting etc.  Mostly people are doing reciprocal which deals in sending mails to other relevant sites asking them to exchange links with you whom half of the people ignore because most of the mails are spam or are not relevant sites.

2. Directory Submission

Make Your Own Social Bookmarking Website: Pligg

I don’t know if you already know this or not but you can set up your own social bookmarking website for free by using Pligg CMS Solutions!
About a year ago, I started a Turkish website called Linkopedi where I was intending to give links for social bookmarking websites and easing link building process for my visitors. After some time, I saw my users were eager to send their website data and asking me to publish them on this website. As a very curious person, I really love experimenting new things so I said why not and added a directory folder under my website and started building links for my visitors; it was very risky I accept but at the end of the day my visitors were happy and it was increasing my traffic as well.

No More Page Rank Sculpting with “nofollow” Attribute

Since Matt Cutts from Google throw a bombshell in SMX advanced meeting in 3th of June about Page Rank Sculpting, every search marketing blog is discussing the same issue. Is it really like “nofollow” attribute no longer passes more juice to followed links or not and what changes shall SEO‘s do in that case? First of all lets have a look at what page rank sculpting is all about.

What is page rank sculpting?

Every page has a page rank value, that is a numerical weighting that it passes in to the links allocated in it. Page Rank sculpting occurs when we use “nofollow” attribute in unimportant links to prevent passing page rank values so that we pass that left over weight in to followed links to increase the page rank of those links.

According to Google’s change, regardless of  “nofollow” attribute, Google determines the Page Rank  it passes along  links according to the number of links on a web page. That is using “nofollow” no longer generates more page rank for the followed links. Here are some of Matt Cutts goodies:

How to get listed in Google local results and Google maps

If you are involved in internet marketing business, you should make sure that you use all juicy features of Search Engines to drive traffic to your websites.

Google local and Google maps is a great way of driving free traffic to your website, especially your local customers. It helps people to find your business on Google maps and appear in Google organic search results for your local area with relevant keywords. For instance; if you type “SEO Warrington” in google search, you would see Future Searches is listed in local results and it is all for free. Great isn’t it?

Future searches seo warrington local listing

Or if you go to Google maps and type “SEO Great Sankey”, you will  see our listing in Google maps ” again for free”.

How to get listed in Google Local Search and Google Maps?

All you need to do is to log in to Google Local Business center and follow the instructions. You need to have a google account (if you don’t have don’t worry, you can have one in minutes) to log in to local business center. You need to provide your postal address, telephone number, URL, a brief description of services you offer. You will be asked to verify your information either by phone, email or sms. Google says it takes normally 24-38 hours to be listed in the relevant listings but I guess it can take more than that in some circumstances. You can monitor the result of your submission and the success of your listing from the same window. You can update your listing any time by following the same route.

Importance of blogging in your internet marketing mix

It was not long ago when blogging started becoming popular amongs internet addicts. I remember creating my first blog, writing things popped in to my mind those days, I felt like i was naked. Today, everyone has a blog!

Below is a list of why blogs are useful for internet marketing:

1. Blogging is an easy way of creating a website or improving the content of a website by adding them as an internal part of a website, bringing many additional features like comments, trackbacks, RSS together.

2. It is a great tool to rank in search engines result pages, attract customers and keep them up to date about your company and products. The more content you create, the more likely search engines index your website and your website ranks in organic search results.

3. It also increases your customers loyalty and interest as long as you reply to comments and let them know that you are listening what they say. If used effectively, blogs can even be turned in to a community.

4. Most bloging systems offer search engine friendly URLs so search engines crawl and rank them easily.
