I’ve came up to this question during a job interview. I was applying for a SEO role and its’ a shame to admit that I couldn’t give the good answer. It is the best time that I promised my self to keep up to date with my industry instead of just stucking in regular SEO techniques and daily tasks. So let’s have a look at what the universal search is all about?

When a search is made in Google, it use to show the results of web pages relevant to that query. With Universal Search or in other words Blended Search, Google aimed to bring all type of search results relevant to your query including news, images, videos, books, local maps, stock prices and featured products from Google Product Search so users would find all kind of information about their query under the same page.

“With universal search, we’re attempting to break down the walls that traditionally separated our various search properties and integrate the vast amounts of information available into one simple set of search results.”

Hence, internet marketers should pay more attention in optimisation of assets such as images, videos when considering better rankings in Google.

I will be writing about how to optimize videos for YouTube in my following posts.
